DIY Holiday Books for Decor

Have you seen those cute ceramic “book” stacks for Halloween in the craft and decor stores? Well so have I and I thought I could make that! I am all about being inspired by what I see out there in the world. This same idea could be used for just about any holiday as well. So let’s get started!

Supplies:

3-4 Hard cover books. From around the house, dollar store or any thrift store.

3-4 Sheets of construction paper, your choice of color depending on your theme. You could also use a roll of craft paper (I’ve seen that at the dollar store)

Tape

Scissors

Colored pens

How to:

Simply take your paper and wrap old books like you did in school

“Mind blown”….I know!

Sorry, sometimes I think we make things too hard. (Or too expensive for that matter)

Now you are ready to get creative! The examples I am showing here are for Halloween, but like I mentioned before you could use this same idea for other holidays. For example, Christmas….”Grandma’s Christmas Cookie Recipes”, Santa’s Naughty/Nice Book”, “Christmas Carol’s”…. Easter….”Cotton Tail’s Adventures”, “How to Dye Easter Eggs”….    St. Patrick’s Day….”How to Catch a Leprechaun”, “Where to Hide Your Gold”….

I could go on and on but I think you get the idea. Have fun with it, make it your own!

Decor doesn’t have to cost a fortune to make it look like it does. This project cost nothing if this are things you already have on hand.  If you dont have some of these items it still would not cost more than around $10 for the supplies and then you can change it out throughout the year.

The “book” ideas I came up with were “Potion”, “Spells & Curses” , and a How to guide ” How to be a Witch” . Books are great when creating a vignette to add height and dimension.

Please feel free to share what you come up with using this idea. I would love to see it and share it!

Thanks for stopping by!
